Title: Rethinking Learning in the Age of AI by Comparing Human and Artificial Intelligence
Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) has become deeply interwoven with the practices of learning, teaching, and skill acquisition. Its applications range from automated assessment systems and personalized learning platforms to intelligent tutoring and knowledge-on-demand tools. At the same time, advances in machine perception, neural networks, and reinforcement learning invite renewed reflection on the nature of intelligence itself and its relationship to human cognition. This talk examines the contemporary and emerging roles of AI in learning and education. It compares human and artificial intelligences and analyzes how each acquires, represents, and applies knowledge. Then, we discuss how AI supports learning across four key domains: performance analytics, personalized learning, intelligent scaffolding, and on-demand learning. Finally, we discuss future possibilities and ethical concerns.
